Why do the body scrubs contain Polysorbate 80?
Short answer
It emulsifies the oils with water on the skin, so the scrub rinses off as a milky emulsion instead of leaving a greasy film.
Explanation
The scrubs use 4–5% Polysorbate 80. Melt the butters, stir in the Polysorbate, add liquid oils, chill to a frosting consistency, then fold in the exfoliants, extracts and essential oils. Use fresh, dry, finely ground coffee: used grounds bring in moisture and bacteria.
What to do
- Keep water out of the jar; scrubs are anhydrous and have no preservative.
