GLOWMANCY. Natural Formulation & Beauty Education

What are the key safety rules for candle making?

Short answer

Melt wax only in a double boiler, never over an open flame, never let it exceed 85 °C, and smother any wax fire with baking soda, never water.

Explanation

The book says even small violations can have serious consequences. Keep small children away from the work, since stones, dried flowers, glitter, dyes and fragrances can end up in mouths. Read dye and fragrance instructions carefully and follow the maker's percentages and temperatures. Use cotton wicks with dried flowers to avoid flaring.
